Whoever says, "I love God," but hates his brother is
a liar. The one who does not love the brother whom
he has seen cannot love a God whom he has not seen.
(1Jo 4:20 ISV)
With this section I can safely say that I
will be stepping on everyone's toes. Christian and
non-Christian alike.
I placed hate and intolerance together on
this page because I feel that they go hand in hand. Usually
intolerance is cause by hate and vise versa.
This area seems to be of great interest
these days. You hear on the television almost everyday that
we all need to learn to be more "tolerant".
Unfortunately the television usually is stressing that the
"Religious Right" needs to be more tolerant to the "Liberal
Left" and then you hear someone from the "Liberal Left"
bashing someone from the "Religious Right", but it is ok to
be a liberal and intolerant, since all of us on the right
are just sheep ready for the slaughter (at least this is
what the left thinks).
Now you "Liberal Left" people do not start a
witch hunt and calling me "intolerant" until you hear both
sides (this is a common practice of the left to attack
before listening).
Non-Christians are in the habit of attacking
anything that does not agree with their way of thinking.
If you (as a conservative) feel that homosexual sex or
pre-marital heterosexual sex is wrong then you are a bigot.
But if a "Christian" is attacked for expressing his/her
opinion then many feel that they "got what they deserved".
Now before you fire off a email to me please read the
sections below.
Christians are quite "hypocritical" when it
comes to talking about "tolerance". I know that many
Christians would rather call into account the mistakes (or
sins, whatever you would like to call them) of others before
they would even consider looking at their own. Jesus said;
"Why do you see
the speck in your brother's eye but fail to notice the
beam in your own eye?" (Mat 7:3 ISV)
As a Christian I feel that you should love (or at least
like) everyone, that includes your enemies. Just because you
do not see eye to eye does not mean that you are
"intolerant" to each other, you just have a differing
opinion. It becomes "intolerance" when you hate that person
for what they believe in and you will try anything to
stop/quiet their right to give an opinion.
I know of a site here on the internet that is what I
would consider "intolerant" and that is the "God hates fags"
website. I'm sorry but this is NOT the way to show the love
of Jesus Christ. But he has the right to express his
opinion, if you agree with it great, if you don't agree with
it great, but to shut him up is "intolerance".
I feel that Homosexuality is against God (click
here to read about that), but so is
lying, cheating, stealing, pre-marital sex and etc. But if
I go around attacking or hating homosexuals then I am
intolerant to their opinion. But by the same token if a
homosexual attacks or hates me because of my beliefs the
they are just as intolerant as I would be if I felt that
way.
To the Christian, I consider intolerance as attacking
anyone who commits "sins", remember there is only one
perfect man, Jesus Christ (in other words everyone on earth
sins). God and Jesus instruct the believers to "hate the
sin and LOVE the sinner", if you can not love the person
committing the sin then you are intolerant. You must LOVE
all men as Jesus did because we are all lost without
the saving grace of Jesus. Use the bible to guide the
person to realize that God does not want to take all the fun
out of their life. But that the bible is a guideline to
keep one healthy and away from heartache. But if that
person is not swayed by the bible and God then pray for
them, but do not hate them.
So what is the bottom line of this page? It is that the
Christian and non-Christian alike must accept that there
will be differing opinions on matters. If you are a
Christian you MUST learn how to guide people to the truth of
what is right and what is wrong, but you must do it with
LOVE. And for the non-Christian the same goes for you, by
forcing issues on people nothing will be accomplished,
except for more hate and intolerance.
